Gogeta Vegeto Fusion

Gogeta or Vegeto: Most Powerful Fusion?

There are two different fusion forms that the main characters Goku and Vegeta have mastered, and these two forms are named Gogeta and Vegeto. Originating from the seminal Japanese animated series DBZ, fusion is a concept that allows two characters to “merge” into a single being. The goal of this technique is to significantly increase the power level of both characters to form an ultra-powerful "whole". 💥

It also combines their thoughts and personalities into one mind. These two methods of fusion in the Dragon Ball saga are possible thanks to the fusion dance and the Potaras earrings . Goku and Vegeta have also used both techniques. After receiving the Potaras in the Boo Saga, Goku and Vegeta combine to form Vegeto , who at that point was the strongest character in the series. In the non-canonical Dragon Ball Z: Fusions , the two heroes perform the Fusion Dance to become Gogeta and defeat Janemba .

The fusion dance is repeated again in Dragon Ball GT, which has since been removed from canon. Gogeta will therefore not be part of the series' continuity until the 2018 film, Dragon Ball Super: Broly . So a question comes to mind. Which of these two mergers is stronger? The answer is quite simple, it was given to us in the latest Dragon Ball Super series. But let’s discover the journey that led to this question! 😏

1. GOGETA AND VEGETO

Gogeta and Vegeto

There has been a lot of debate among fans regarding which fusion form is the most fearsome in combat in DBZ. The two have been instrumental in fighting some of the most powerful adversaries in Dragon Ball history, including Boo , Zamasu , and now Broly . While on the surface the two appear to be on equal footing, Gogeta will prove slightly superior to Vegeto for a very simple reason: Vegeto has a power limit . 📏

It is established in Dragon Ball Z that the fusion with the Potara earrings lasts forever, but this info will be reestablished in Dragon Ball Super which will reveal that it actually only lasts an hour when the earrings are worn by mortals. However, the one-hour fusion still sounds much better than the time constraints for the fusion dance , which only allows Goku and Vegeta to be Gogeta for 30 minutes. The upside is that Gogeta can fight with his full power, and even switch to his Super Saiyan Blue form without worrying about the consequences. 🔥

2. DURATION OF THE POTARA MERGER

Potara Fusion Duration

No matter what Gogeta does, the fusion lasts 30 minutes, while the Potara fusion is rather imperfect. This is surprising, given that it is a divine technique . As previously stated, the Potara fusion should last an hour, but Dragon Ball Super has proven that this rule has its limits! 😲

Against Zamasu, Vegeto accessed the Super Saiyan Blue form and fought for less than 15 minutes before the fusion wore off. Goku and Vegeta defused after Vegeto hit Zamasu with their Final Kamehameha . Apparently, the amount of energy Vegeto distributed was too high. This is where Gogeta's advantage lies; he does not have these restrictions and can strike his opponents with the full force of his power, making him the strongest warrior at this moment in time.

3. MERGERS IN DRAGON BALL

Fusion Vegeta Goku

Despite his strength, one of Gogeta's greatest flaws is the method required to summon him, as the Fusion Dance has its very specific requirements. First, you need candidates who are roughly the same size and similar power levels. It's not an exact science, but imagine if Goku and Vegeta hadn't been roughly the same height (disregarding the fact that Vegeta mysteriously grew a few feet taller from the Boo saga) ? Earth wouldn't have had Gogeta and we would be destroyed! Then there's the dance itself, which requires near-perfect precision, otherwise the "ultimate fusion" will end up turning into a scrawny failed character or an obese fool who farts instead of fighting. 💨

For Vegeto, the two Saiyans only needed Potara earrings. Now, it's not exactly easy to get the Deity Earrings, but with that obstacle removed, Goku and Vegeta simply needed to put them on to transform into Vegeto . No dancing to do and no height requirements, it really is that simple! 🕺🏻

4. GOGETA VS VEGETO

Gogeta vs Vegeto

When we are first introduced to Vegeto in the Boo Saga , he looks pretty much like any other Saiyan, with naturally spiky dark hair and a scowl. He will later reach the SSJ and SSJ2 stages under Boo's duress, but to us this is a sign of weakness, not power. This is not the case for the true fused warrior and champion, Gogeta. 📿

After merging, Gogeta was born energized, as if it was his natural state. Now, we don't know if he's in Super Saiyan or even Super Saiyan 2 form, but he's often just referred to as "Super" in the series. Is there a lower form than this? Maybe, but as far as we know Gogeta is constantly at a higher level due to his raw power compared to Vegeto. In fact, the only time he was shown powered up was against the Shadow Dragons in Dragon Ball GT . 🐲

Gogeta SSJ3

Harnessing the power of his Saiyan bloodline , Gogeta can transcend his seemingly base "Super" form into Super Saiyan 4 , which is a gargantuan level of strength that the skinny SSJ in whatever Vegeto form is hardly comparable to, at least in DBZ.

5. THE MOVIE DRAGON BALL Z: MERGERS

DBZ movie: mergers

In the film Dragon Ball Z: Fusions , we are given our first taste of Gogeta's greatness. The film is about a lazy teenage demon tasked with cleaning the tanks that extract evil from souls going to hell. After an explosion from these tanks, the pollution infested the young demon and transformed him into a character similar to Janemba , an amalgam of concentrated evil. The being is so powerful that it is capable of completely altering the laws of the afterlife, bringing the dead (including Dracula and others) back to life to cause chaos in the world of the living, and imprisoning also King Enma and many others. 🎬

Against Goku , Janemba transforms into a new, ultra-powerful form that the Saiyan is no match for, and the only way to beat him will be to fuse with Vegeta. In just a few seconds of transformation, he tactically outplays his opponent and counters their every move, disposing of Janemba like it was nothing. 💥

6. VEGETO CAPABILITIES

Vegeto Blue

Gogeta is incredibly calm, cold, and cunning. He rarely speaks in the film or series but when he does, it is epic and often loaded with taunts that take a psychological toll on his opponents . His speed is incalculable and his tactical mind surpasses all he faces, and he has enough raw power to annihilate reckless villains who dare oppose his greatness, usually with little to no effort. Vegeto does not have the same strength reserves as readily available. 🥈

Where Gogeta is crippled with a time limit on his divine transformation, Vegeto has plenty of time to analyze his enemies and completely destroy them. This pseudo-permanent fusion gives Vegeto time to understand an opponent's strengths and weaknesses and find ways to overcome them. In the process, he might also reach new levels of power or develop new techniques, something Gogeta simply cannot afford. ⏲

Vegeto therefore proves his ability to defeat powerful villains, whether against Buu or against the odious Black Goku and Zamasu . However, we are not saying that Gogeta is not capable of developing new techniques or would fail to improvise adequately, but he simply does not have the time to do so. ⌚

7. THE POTARAS IN DBZ

Potaras DBZ

The Potara are actually really interesting artifacts created in the myth of the franchise Dragon Ball, still constantly expanding. Divine items, these earrings belong to the Kais , who are generally the highest ranked deities in the many universes of the Japanese series , just behind Zen'o Sama himself.

These earrings allow for many unique effects and abilities, such as the ability to use a time ring to travel through time and space without consequence (such as creating alternate realities.) Of course, the Potara also allows two unique beings to merge into one, whether they are divine, living, dead, mortal or I don't know what other form. 😅

Yet despite this impressive power and ease of use, there are a lot of variables involved that make the use of Potara earrings somewhat questionable. For example :

    • a deceased person can merge with someone who is alive , and the result will be a living entity. This is cool, but if the fused warrior is destroyed, he will remain fused, which seems like a rather annoying consequence, since individuals will now cease to exist as unique beings.
    • If the earrings are destroyed, the fusion will end, making the fused fighter a target. Although this is not the case for beings who are permanently fused (like gods), Vegeto would be eliminated. For this reason alone, Gogeta and his lack of obvious weaknesses wins.

8. SUPER SAIYAN 4 FORM

Super Saiyan 4

If there's one thing that truly separates Gogeta from Vegeto in terms of raw power, it's his transformation into Super Saiyan 4 . When Gogeta debuted in the movie Fusions , he appeared to come from a major galaxy rather than a benign dance and he radiated pure power, his seemingly basic form already being "Super" as noted. indicated previously.

Even in this state, he was incalculably powerful, eliminating Janemba 's dimensional threat in just a minute. It's important to note that Janemba, at this point in the adventure, was seemingly a much bigger threat than Buu, who was the series' ultimate adversary at that time. 🌟

After the conclusion of DBZ, we were blessed with a new series, the DBGT series . It received mixed reviews. Although the series was quite flawed, it also had Omega Shenron , who acted as the ultimate adversary for the series finale. So the only chance to defeat him was Gogeta in his Super Saiyan 4 form. This primordial, ultimate evolution should be the true "Super Saiyan God", and it makes this puny form (and its blue evolution) appear like cheap imitations to our great disappointment. 😫

Goku SSJ4

Embodying everything Saiyans stand for, Gogeta SSJ4 made a brief appearance against Omega Shenron, whose own power was so absurdly high that Gogeta's exponential advantage clearly showed this form's supremacy. Although SSJ4 was not able to beat Shenron , it was simply due to the fusion time-limited technicality as he was only a second away from taking out the legendary and evil dragon for good ! 🐉

9. GOGETA: STARDUST BREAKER

Gogeta Technique

The heroes and villains of Dragon Ball have an arsenal of flashy special techniques that have marked the saga and the DBZ video games in their own way. Everyone knows the attraction of the Kamehameha of the Awesome Turtle school (the Kamé House) and its distinct blue hue. The Spirit Bomb (aka Genkidama) is also popular, with the Destruction Bomb almost always delivering a satisfying explosion after a necessary energy build-up. 💣

Then there's Saiyan Prince Vegeta , who gave us some of the biggest moves and moments in the saga. His Garrick cannon and purple glow is a staple, and even his son, Trunks , has picked up this technique. There's also the Big Bang Attack, we'll always have a special place in our hearts for the Final Flash , an attack that when it debuted took 5 minutes to fully charge against Cell , and it was definitely worth it. the shot ! 💥

Gogeta SSJ2

Unfortunately, Vegeto doesn't have anything too iconic or distinctive about his moveset, aside from his energy sword, and a few combos based on merging Vegeta and Goku's attacks like the Big Bang Kamehameha. 😥

And here comes Gogeta and his ultimate special move: Stardust Breaker. Taking a form unlike any other move in the entire franchise, the Stardust Breaker is comprised of a rainbow sphere that transforms into celestial, shimmering sparks, an attack of all splendor. It doesn't sound too devastating when talking about it, but a single shot of this final blow will be aimed at Janemba and cause him to turn into stardust, dissolving so completely that he might as well have could never exist does not leave us indifferent! ✨
