ZARBON APPEARANCE
Zarbon is an elite soldier who puts his beauty and physical appearance first. In the series, he is considered to be very handsome. Zarbon belongs to an advanced reptilian alien race as evidenced by his small golden eyes and light blue skin. He has long green hair styled in a braid. Zarbon also wears earrings and a tiara which give him the air of a high-born prince . He is equipped with a long blue cape and purple combat gloves. Zarbon also wears the typical armor of Frieza 's soldiers and as the Emperor's right-hand man , he has a blue-colored enhanced power sensor . When Zarbon transforms, he doubles his body mass and returns to his original reptilian form. His face is then distorted and has fangs instead of teeth. 🐊
PERSONALITY :
Just like Dodoria, Zarbon is part of Frieza's inner circle due to his intelligence . He is a character of primary importance because it was he who advised Frieza to eliminate the Saiyan race after understanding that they could pose a threat in the future. Zarbon also has perfect knowledge of interplanetary trade and always advises Frieza on strategy or how to conquer a system or planet. 🪐
As far as he is concerned, Zarbon hates his true appearance which he considers ugly. However, he only uses his transformation as a last resort as a self-defense mechanism . However in his original form Zarbon's power is at least doubled and this gives him great power. When he transforms, he abandons his "beauty side" to adopt a more bestial form , this is a reference to the tale of Beauty and the Beast . Even though Zarbon hates the appearance of his transformation, he is nevertheless very proud of the power and power it gives him. He is indeed much stronger, confident and violent. 👊
However, he still values his beauty and always puts it forward. This is notably demonstrated when he refuses to search the lake to find Vegeta's body, for fear of wetting his hair.
Like the other soldiers in Frieza's army, Zarbon displays extreme arrogance and a strong tendency to underestimate his opponents. Even though he is one of Frieza's main commanders, Zarbon is shown to be terrified of the latter several times. Indeed, just like Dodoria, Zarbon is considered replaceable by the Galactic Emperor. In appearance and temperament, Zarbon seems to be the most " human " of Frieza's soldiers compared to Dodoria or Kiwi who are much more sadistic than him. He loves the rank and position he holds in the Galactic Emperor's army but also seems to work out of fear. 😨
In some video games, we learn that Zarbon is one of the most intelligent in Frieza's entire army. He indeed seems to hate simple minds and this explains the aversion he shows towards Dodoria, whom he considers to be a brute and quite ugly.
BIOGRAPHY :
In his early days, Zarbon served alongside Dodoria and the Ginyu Commando under King Cold . He then entered Frieza's service after King Cold passed power to his son. Dodoria also left the Cold Force as did the Ginyu Commando in order to serve the Galactic Emperor. 😎
Thanks to his formidable power and intelligence, Zarbon became, with Dodoria, one of Frieza's two main commanders and was even named his right-hand man.
This elite warrior is even the only one in the entire galactic army to have managed to learn a transformation and thus change his appearance like his master in order to become more powerful. 💪
The day King Vegeta rebelled against Frieza, Zarbon saw Frieza's frightening power when he killed the Saiyan king in a single blow. The elites who escorted King Vegeta were also all pulverized in a single attack and it was probably at this moment that Zarbon began to serve Frieza out of fear. When the Galactic Emperor suggested blowing up Planet Vegeta , Zarbon then asked him if such an extreme operation was necessary. Frieza then retorted that other Saiyans would eventually rebel following King Vegeta's example and that it would be better to wipe out the entire planet. 🌍
Some time later, after Vegeta, Nappa and Raditz returned from a mission to the planet Shiik , Zarbon was able to alongside Frieza, mock the three Saiyans. Vegeta and his men indeed took three days to depopulate the planet and Zarbon retorted that it would not have taken him more than a day to do the same thing. In addition to not congratulating them, Zarbon even performed an insulting bow in order to ridicule and provoke the prince of Saiyans.
ZARBON DURING THE FREEZER SAGA
Zarbon and Dodoria accompany Lord Frieza to Namek in order to search for the seven crystal balls . The latter's wish is to obtain immortality in order to maintain his position in control of the universe. The trio and other henchmen massacre many Nameks by pulverizing entire villages to obtain the artifacts. 💥
Vegeta for his part continues his betrayal towards Frieza and also arrives on the planet Namek with the aim of gathering the Dragon Balls for his own account. He wishes in fact, just like Frieza, to obtain immortality too. The prince of the Saiyans thus eliminates Kiwi then Dodoria after the latter was separated from the rest of Frieza's forces. 🤛
At this point in history, Zarbon is the last elite soldier alive of the emperor, which encourages the latter to bring the Ginyu Commando to the planet Namek as reinforcements. Zarbon, slightly frightened , asks the reason for the Special Forces call and Frieza replies that he has a premonition and that a great warrior is about to manifest on Namek.
While waiting for reinforcements, Zarbon goes in search of the last crystal balls with Apple . The two warriors end up separating to better cover the ground and Zarbon ends up falling one on one against Vegeta.
The prince of the Saiyans challenges him to a duel, convinced that he will emerge victorious from the fight after having defeated Dodoria . Zarbon, who finds it hard to believe that Vegeta has become so strong, then questions him about the reason he pushed him to betray Frieza and the prince of the Saiyans declares that he has always felt a strong hatred towards the emperor . Vegeta also thinks that he has a chance of defeating Frieza if Porunga, the sacred dragon of Namek, grants him immortality. Zarbon, whose power detector was destroyed some time before, is frustrated at not being able to assess his opponent's power. 👍
Vegeta then closes the conversation by stating that he has become Frieza's greatest fear: a Super Saiyan .
The fight begins and the prince of the Saiyans has a large advantage at the start of the confrontation. He effortlessly deflects the reptilian's Elegant Blaster and dodges the rest of its attacks. Vegeta then sends his opponent crashing to the ground of Namek. Zarbon gets up and then reveals to Vegeta the existence of his transformation . He explains that he hates this form but that he does not hesitate to use it to crush his enemies. The reptilian then begins its metamorphosis and thus adopts its demonic bestial form. 🐲
In the rest of the fight, Zarbon now has the upper hand over the prince of the Saiyans. He thus inflicted a long series of brutal blows and numerous headbutts . To discourage him, Zarbon then takes a short break to inform Vegeta of Frieza's ability to also transform. The fight resumes, Zarbon has fun with his opponent for a while by hammering him with blows and ends up knocking him out with an aerial bombardment. The head of the prince of the Saiyans crashes head-on onto the ground of Namek and his body is lost in the waters of a Namekian lake . Zarbon then leaves Vegeta for dead and leaves to report to Frieza to announce his victory. 👍
The Galactic Emperor then asks for confirmation of the death of the Prince of Saiyans and Zarbon replies that Vegeta has little chance of surviving with the injuries he received. The Saiyan's body having landed in a lake, Zarbon did not want to get his hair wet while searching the area. Frieza becomes angry, calling this unacceptable behavior and demands confirmation of the prince's death. In addition, Vegeta probably hid the last Dragon Ball and the emperor wants to question him to find out the location of the artifact . It is at this moment that Frieza threatens to kill Zarbon if he does not accomplish his mission and bring back the last Dragon Ball . 🐉
Zarbon then turns back and heads towards the lake in order to fulfill Frieza's will. For its part, Apple informs that the Ginyu Commando is on the way with new and improved power detectors.
Once at the lake, the reptilian quickly locates Vegeta's bruised body and decides to take him in one of Frieza's ships in order to heal him in order to obtain information regarding the latest Dragon Ball . Apple then informs that the Saiyan's body condition is severely damaged and there is a possibility that he will not survive. Zarbon retorts that it is essential that Vegeta survives so that he can be questioned by Frieza. 🤔
Once healed, the Prince of Saiyans receives a power boost and destroys the healing capsule. The explosion is so powerful that it kills Apple instantly. Zarbon and Frieza then head towards the scene of the explosion and notice a huge hole in a wall as well as the Saiyan's escape.
Frieza also notices that Vegeta has fled, taking all the Dragon Balls . The Galactic Emperor then loses his temper and orders Zarbon to bring back the artifacts or risk killing him . Frieza also adds that Zarbon has one hour to find the fleeing Saiyan. 🦶
Although the reptilian no longer has his detector, he spots Krillin who is carrying a Dragon Ball and who is being chased by Vegeta. He manages to follow them to the cave that Gohan and Bulma were using as a hideout. Zarbon intercepts the prince of the Saiyans and challenges him once again. Despite Frieza's threat, the alien warrior begins to warm up at the start of the fight while maintaining his base form. When he remembers the Emperor's threat, he then takes his bestial form to continue the fight.
Vegeta dodges all attacks before rising into the air and finally sending sand into his opponent's eyes to blind him. The prince of the Saiyans took the opportunity to deliver a powerful punch to his opponent's back and then followed up with a long series of ki blows , which then seriously injured him while damaging his combat armor. Krillin takes advantage of the fight to encourage Bulma to leave the cave. Vegeta notices them and steps in front of them. Zarbon, furious, rushes towards the prince of the Saiyans again as he emerges from the water and the fight resumes with renewed vigor. 😅
Vegeta takes the opportunity to inform the reptilian that his power increases considerably each time he comes close to death and that he is now the strongest .
Following an interminable and rapid volley of blows, Vegeta delivers a powerful punch to Zarbon's chest, which has the effect of completely breaking his combat armor and drawing blood. Zarbon then experiences extreme panic and begins to beg the Saiyan for his life. He explains to him that he was only following the emperor's orders and even offers Vegeta an alliance against him. The reptilian explains to him that they could defeat Frieza but it turns out that it is only a strategy to save his life. ☝
Vegeta, in response, destroys his spine with a kick and Zarbon's body collapses into the Namekian Sea.
ZARBON IN OTHER SAGAS
During the Super C17 saga of Dragon Ball GT , Zarbon manages to escape the Underworld with many other villains. His first action on Earth is to have fun wreaking carnage in cities alongside Dodoria. However, he is again defeated and once again locked in the Underworld. 😈
In the Broly film, Zarbon is present with Dodoria alongside King Cold and Frieza. At this point in history, they belong to the Cold Force just before being officially integrated into the Frieza Force . The two elite warriors escort the tyrannical family when they impose the submission of the Saiyan people on King Vegeta.
BARDOCK MOVIE
In the year 737, aboard Frieza's ship, Zarbon and Dodoria are busy informing the Galactic Emperor about interplanetary trade and the progress of space conquests . Zarbon explains to Frieza that a small group of middle-class Saiyans managed to take over the planet Kanassa in just a few days. Dodoria adds that it was a difficult system to conquer and that even the Emperor's elite squadrons had never managed to achieve this feat. Under the influence of his advisors, Frieza begins to appreciate for the first time the danger posed by the Saiyan people. The Galactic Emperor thus decides to take radical measures and decides to annihilate the race of Saiyans. 💀
Zarbon and Dodoria then receive the order to eradicate Bardock, one of the most dangerous and powerful Saiyans of the moment, as well as his detachment, composed of the Saiyans Toma, Shugesh, Borgos and Fasha . Zarbon doesn't want to get his hands dirty and it's Dodoria who massacres Bardock's entire team but carelessly leaves the latter alive. Once recovered from his injuries, Bardock sets off to confront Frieza's army in order to avenge his comrades and manages to make his way to Frieza's flagship. The Emperor then decides that it is time to end things and asks Zarbon to take off his seat in order to get out of the ship. Zarbon ends up complying after hesitating, and comes to place himself alongside the tyrant. 💥
Frieza then destroys the planet Vegeta as well as Bardock who was on the way using an energy ball . Zarbon and Dodoria, who witness this terrible explosion without the slightest compassion, are thus the only ones, apart from Frieza, to witness the destruction of the Saiyan planet.
THE POWER OF ZARBON
Zarbon's power level obviously evolves depending on the form he adopts. In its base form, the power level is between 20 and 24,000 . He is thus less powerful than Vegeta in the Namek saga but greatly exceeds the latter once transformed. In his beast form, his power level easily reaches 30,000 units. He thus surpasses the prince of the Saiyans in monster form. Transformed Zarbon thus has a power that approaches the level of Recoome, Jeice and Barta but is very far from equaling Ginyu . 🤔
ZARBON’S FAVORITE ATTACKS
Comet Arrow : Zarbon raises his right hand into the air to charge energy and then sends a powerful blast of yellow ki towards his opponent.
Blood Dance : This is a long sequence that Zarbon uses in close combat on his opponent using only kicks. He executes his combo with grace and it feels like dancing.
Stylish Blaster : One of Zarbon's most powerful attacks. He extends his arm towards the opponent with an open palm and fires a powerful, devastating yellow energy beam. He can perform the same technique when transformed using less ki.
Cannon of Possibilities : A simple wave of energy fired in the direction of the opponent.
Wild Pressure : Zarbon only uses this technique when transformed. After inflicting several melee blows on his opponent, he grabs him and delivers three powerful headbutts. Zarbon notably used this terrible attack against Vegeta.
Monstrous Crush : This is a devastating attack from Zarbon when transformed. He grabs his opponent to propel him into the air. Zarbon grabs him again and sends his target crashing violently against the ground, inflicting heavy damage.
Merciless Kick : A powerful kick aimed at the opponent's neck. Zarbon used this technique to kill Namekian villagers during the Frieza Saga.
Shooting Star Arrow : An energy shot that Zarbon used to kill a Namek in Moori Village.
ANECDOTES ABOUT ZARBON:
- Its name is a play on words from Japanese which refers to the pomelo fruit (ザボン, or 朱欒).
- In a Japanese magazine, Zarbon was voted as one of the five greatest main henchmen in the saga.
- Even if he is not the strongest warrior in Frieza's Forces, Zarbon is still the most powerful of his race . He himself indicates his ability to wipe out the population of an entire planet in just one day and he generally keeps the strongest warrior there in order to have him join the galactic army. 💪
- Given that Vegeta managed to leave the planet after his defeat on Earth, Zarbon is thus the first character in the saga to have fought and defeated the prince of the Saiyans on an equal footing.
- In the video game Budokai Tenkaichi 3, Chichi has mixed feelings about Zarbon's appearance. She indicates that his appearance might please Bulma, which turned out to be true as the latter almost fell in love at first sight when she saw Zarbon for the first time. However, she was quickly cooled after seeing the reptilian and bestial form of the alien. 🐲
